Acronym : MED-P-P01436 To instruct the student on modern IT systems used in the Transfusion, Transplantation & Tissue Banking environment (and elsewhere) to a level that allows them to understand and use the range of systems used, to understand the options that are available and their strengths and weaknesses. To be aware of and understand the use, technical options and assessment of information technology hardware and software used in transfusion, transplantation and tissue banking, including the related topics of donation and sample coding, Data Protection, confidentiality and Clinical Governance.
To understand and be able to apply the management techniques and technologies applied in collecting donations of blood and other tissues and the demography of blood use, together with the interface between blood providers and hospital users and its influence on blood demand. Assessment Information
Written assignment: 4,000-5,000 words (60%)
Participation in assessments during the week's course (spot tests, or multi-choice question (MCQ) assessment: 40%).
