Conscious Sedation 4 (P01434)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : MED-P-P01340 To increase the range of competence in sedation management techniques. To enable the clinician to develop competence in a range of conscious sedation techniques not covered in conscious sedation modules 1,2 and 3. Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : -Successful completion of a Registerable Dental Qualification -Successful completion of Conscious Sedation 1, 2 + 3 (or accredited prior learning) -A valid ILS certificate or equivalent -Submission of a curriculum vitae indicating that CPD is being maintained -Successful outcome at a selection interview (optional) ? Co-requisites : General Dental Council registration Employment as a general Dental Practitioner Medical Indemnity cover ? -The acquisition and understanding of the knowledge relevant to practice of conscious sedation in dentistry using less frequently needed sedation techniques
-To be clinically competent in the assessment and treatment planning of patients who require conscious sedation using less frequently needed sedation techniques. -Administration of less frequently needed sedation techniques using: -Multiple route sedation -Multiple agent sedation -The use of continuous infusion techniques -Alternative inhalation agentsClinical and electromechanical monitoring of patients sedated using less frequently needed sedation. Appropriate discharge of patients sedated using less frequently needed sedation techniques. -To appreciate the scope and limitation of the sedation techniques included in this module. -To promote a critical and caring approach to the management of the anxious dental patient.
