Philosophers studied are likely to include Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Berkeley, Locke, and Hume. The topics studied will be those central to the work of these philosophers: substance, mind, causation, and God. By the end of the course students will be familiar with the work of several modern philosophers, and understand the major trends in thought over this period.
