Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The course will aim to present students with a variety of teaching and learning situations which will encourage the development of independent study skills, the ability to work constructively in a group and the ability to communicate the results of their work critically in oral and written form. At the end of the course, students should be able to:
-demonstrate a grasp of historical analysis -engage at high level with scholarly debate -evaluate arguments critically -express their ideas in oral and written form. More specifically they should be able to: -understand various types of primary sources for Scottish history -relate this understanding to the current historiography of Scotland. The course will be assessed by two items of coursework, each worth 50% of the marks for the course, as follows.
Firstly, students will be required to submit one item of work, chosen from the following list of three items: 1. Critical source analysis (5000 words) 2. Historiographical analysis (5000 words) 3.
