Teaching and Learning Clinical Skills and Techniques (P00993)

The central core in Medical Education is composed of Clinical, Communication, Consultation and other Professional skills (CCCP). Medical Teachers are currently establishing what the content of this aspect of the curriculum might be, what standards and benchmarks should be declared, and finally, how they may be taught and examined

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

By the end of this module the participants will be able to
- Describe and discuss the current themes in the literature
- Prepare and deliver a curriculum in CCCP
- Teach any aspect of CCCP to undergraduates
- Teach the CCCP elements of their specialty up to their own professional level
- Establish the reliability, validity, utility and general standard required in assessing CCCP at undergraduate level.
- Establish the reliability, validity, utility and standard required in assessing CCCP in their own specialty up to their own professional level.

Assessment Information

The course will be assessed by one piece of coursework. This will amount to 100% of the assessment. The student will be required to prepare a practical examination, such as an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE), long case, short case, or similar scenario, for an undergraduate or postgraduate examination.
