Scientific Methodology 1 (Equine Science) (P00915)

Scientific Methodology 1 focuses on foundation concepts, which must be understood and appreciated by professional scientists. Emphasis is placed on the concept of scientific investigation including the importance of collecting data of the highest possible quality. Once collected data must be analysed efficiently using appropriate statistical methods and the principles of statistical methods are presented. Once analysed data must be written up and the skills and methods required for this are included in the course.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

An understanding of foundation scientific and statistical concepts;

Ability to plan, analyse (using Minitab) and write-up simple experiments.

Assessment Information

Continuous assessment (60 % of course) and 1 x 2 hour exam (40% of course).

This course will be examined alongside Scientific Methodology 2.
