British Emigration, 1603-1914 (P00819)

This course is based on the course organiser's research for a book contracted to Palgrave publishers. It draws on the increasing literature on modern British emigration, to which the course organiser has contributed, and it incorporates Irish and Scottish research into the broader framework of the British Context provided by British political union in the period covered by the course.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Learing outcomes include developing students' ability to undertake independent research and present analysis based on that research to their peers and tutor in verbal and written form, as well as learning more about the results of new work in a dynamic area of historical research.

There will be one essay of 4000 words
