Management of Sustainable Development (P00806)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : GEO-P-ESMSD This course introduces the diversity of tools currently in use to assist in the transition towards sustainable development. The tools considered include international agreements, economic instruments, regional and national environmental regulation, innovative technology, quantitative measures of sustainability and municipal policy initiatives. The application of these tools in a range areas is examined, including: the regulation of global common resources, including climate; the conservation of biodiversity; renewable energy generation; environmental reporting by business and industry; transport; the management of waste and pollution. Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : Available only to postgraduate students ?
Special Arrangements for Entry : The maximum class size is 30, and it is a core course for the MSc Environmental Sustainability programme, which normally attracts about 20 students. The remaining 10 places are allocated to students on other School of GeoSciences MSc programmes by prior agreement between relevant Programme Directors and the Course Organiser.
