Environmental Planning (P00739)

This course will look at the role of planning frameworks in contributing to sustainable development. The course will tend to focus on the UK although EU and worldwide case studies will be used where appropriate.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

- An overview of statutory planning regulations and policy frameworks before developing specific topic areas including national parks, transport planning, waste planning and development control.
- Understanding how a national government uses policy and planning and public participation to direct development
- An insight into the successes and failures of the planning system in the UK focusing on problems and solutions
