Acronym : GEO-P-RMFOM This course gives a general introduction to a selection of generic management tools appropriate for use with a range of natural and man-made resources. It begins with an overview of the contrasting management objectives, functions, styles and skills of public and private entities, and summarises the major problems and issues associated with a variety of natural resources. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
To provide participants with a ‘toolkit’ of management skills and the opportunity to apply these to a variety of resource cases.
Although some mention will be made of techniques used in control (monitoring and evaluation) and operations management, the main thrust of the course is directed towards planning and decision-making aids and participants’ expertise in these will be developed through the involvement in contrasting case workshops of current resource management issues.
