Women and Political Processes in 20th and 21st Century Europe (P00679)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : LLC-P-P00679 This course explores the nature of political representation and political processes in Europe, focusing on the ways in which women have participated in and interacted with political movements through both conventional and unconventional means. After a general introduction to theoretical concepts the course ranges over material relating to a number of different Western European countries and time periods. Topics covered include the role of women in parliamentary politics, in feminist movements, in fascist and antifascist movements and in terrorist groups. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students should have a good understanding of a range of aspects of women's interaction with and participation in political movements and parties in various modern and historical contexts. They should also have improved their presentational, analytical, research and writing skills through seminar work, student presentations and essays.
