Christian-Muslim Dialogue in Africa and Asia (P00525)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : DIV-P-P00525 A contextual of situations of Christian-Muslim encounter in selected regions of Africa and Asia.Analysing socio-political contexts in which indigenous Christian experiences of Islam and Muslim experiences of Christianity are formed, attention will be given to issues of Christian-Muslim encounter as prioritised by indigenous African and Asian communities. Comparisons will be drawn with western approaches to religious pluralism, and an attempt will be made to formulate a cross-cultural paradigm for Christian-Muslim dialogue. This course will enable students to compare processes of Islamisation and Christianisation in selected regions of Africa and Asia.
To understand conditions of Christian communities living in societies where Islam plays a major role in public life. To read selected texts by Christian and Muslim writers in Africa and Asia which contribute to the emerging non-western literature on Christian-Muslim dialogue. To compare and contrast African and Asian models of religious pluralism with western counterparts. Assessment Information
