Research Methods in Finance and Investment (P00236)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : MSE-P-RMIFI This course aims to introduce students to the major areas of research in empirical finance and financial economics, and to highlight the main issues in these fields. It aims to teach the quantitative techniques used to answer questions related to these issues. In the course, students will be asked to replicate and discuss the empirical studies from a number of academic papers. Entry Requirements? Students will develop skills in statistical analysis, computing and finance theory that will assist them in undertaking academic research. Students will also be able to apply classical techniques used in empirical finance and financial economics, to current issues. As a result, they will have developed skills which will be valuable for a career as a quantitative analyst, academic or financial economist.
Assessment Information
Assessment will be via a project (70% of the final mark) and weekly assignments (30% of the final mark). For the project, students will be given a choice of several financial issues, and will be asked to provide solutions or suggestions using the research methods and techniques taught during the course.
