This course develops a conceptual understanding of the interaction between social, cultural and structural factors and health. Further it promotes critical understandings of the causes of the causes and effects of this interaction, and of the politics of health and healthcare provision in the UK.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

To develop students' conceptual understanding of key terms in the study of health including diversity and equity,quality of life and politics of health.
To develop students' conceptual understanding of the interaction between social, cultural and structural factors and health.
To promote citical understandings of the causes and effects of this interaction.
To enable students to acquire the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to plan implement and evaluate health policies.

One course paper 2,500-3,000 words and an exam
