Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

+ Students will be able to make recordings in various styles within a studio setting with confidence and with an awareness of the technical and aesthetic issues such recording involve.
+ They will gain a basic understanding of the cultural and aesthetic issues that surround the making of sound recordings for radio drama, documentray and film.
+ They will be able to operate a recording studio based around a hard disk recording system with technical confidence.

Assessment Information

One edited studio recording, mastered to CD (30%); One free recording mastered to CD (40%); One report on both recordings (no more that 1,500 words) including a list of takes where appropriate (15%); One set of course work comprising three recording projects assigned throughout the semester (15%).
