Sport Science 2B (ED0934)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 8 ? Acronym : EDU-2-SpSciB This course will develop work previously undertaken in Year 1. In the area of Biomechanical Analysis, knowledge of the muscular anatomy and kinesiology required to analyse the methods by which human movement is performed will be considered. In addition specific mechanical principles will be considered which underpin sporting activity, examples will be drawn from selected activities. The Psychological strand of the course focuses on individual aspects of sport performance. Topics addressed will include emotional, anxiety/arousal, attention, control mechanisms and their evaluation, and coping. Within this element of the course students will be introduced to relevant theoretical approaches, together with applied technigues and implications for practice which accrue. The use of laboratory style tasks in tandem with more concentrated seminar/ tutorial work will enable this integration of theory and practice. Identify the major bones and muscle groups and appreciate their role as major lever systems in the facilitation of physical activity;
Understand the mechanical principles in selected sporting situations and appreciate limitations placed on sporting activity by biomechanical factors; Interpret data resulting from an understanding of psychological assessment techniques; Recommend techniques suitable for improving performance Assessment Information
