Computer Programming Skills and Concepts 1 (CS0004)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 8 ? Acronym : INF-1-CP1 This course introduces basic skills required to develop computer programs using modern computer systems, assuming little or no previous experience. It also introduces fundamental concepts of program construction in a suitable high-level programming language. The course has a significant practical component requiring students to construct small programs. Entry Requirementsnone Subject AreasHome subject areaDelivery Information? -They will know the larger part of a high-level programming language (currently C) and be able to express themselves effectively within that language. -They will have developed problem solving skills: the ability to analyse a modest-scale computational problem, develop a solution at the level of a high-level program design, and implement that design in a programming language. -They will understand some of the basic principles underlying the discipline of computer science, and gain an appreciation of alternative approaches to the particular one (based on an imperative programming language) explored in this course.
