Underwater Archaeology (AR0082)

The course aims to provide an integrated approach to the study of submerged archaeological sites. It covers the history and development of underwater archaeology and discusses problems of incorporating results from submerged sites into the mainstream archaeological record. The methods and techniques of underwater survey and excavation are covered with special emphasis on the viability of shallow water work and the problems of deep water sites. The processes of submergence of the sites are covered in detail
