Creative Writing Part II: Prose (U02790)

The course aims by seminar and workshop to introduce students to theoretical and practical issues involved in the composition of prose fiction. Issues to be addressed include: point of view, character and voice, structure and plot.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the course successfully will attain a broadened awareness of stylistic possibilities in prose fiction. By practice they will develop compositional skills and critical self-assessment in a way that complements more general English studies, and be introduced to the possibilities of publishing their work.

Portfolio of creative work (25%); exam assignment (75%)
