Performance and Keyboard 1 (U02724)

The course has two components: Keyboard Skills and instrumental/vocal performance. It aims to provide an integrated introductory course in general musicianship, with particular emphasis on developing basic keyboard skills, as well as encouraging students' performance on their individual instruments or voice.

? Additional Class Information : Project Weeks: Semester 1 - Week 11, Semester 2 - Week 6. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays 10.00 to 1.00. 8 tutorials in keyboard skills.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

To foster students' aptitude as performers, including their ability to communicate with an audience.

To make them aware of the issues to be considered when preparing and presenting a performance.

To improve students' fluency at the keyboard in various skills of musicianship.

Assessment Information

Performance: 10-minute programme, to consist of either solo and/or ensemble performances.

Keyboard: Two end-of-semester tests. If an overall mark of at least 50% is achieved over the two tests, an exemption from the summer degree examination is granted. For students who are not exempted, a degree examination will be held in May.
