Archived VersionThe Degree Regulations and Programmes of Study has been formulated as a dynamic online publication in order to provide the most up to date information possible. General Practice (U01664)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : MED-4-gp Students will generally spend time with most of the doctors in your practice, observing consultations and conducting consultations yourself under supervision. They will also be attached to other members of the primary health care team, for example practice nurse, district nurse and health visitor to observe their work and participate with them in their activities where appropriate. Contact Teaching Time : 20 hour(s) per week for 36 weeks ? Additional Class Information : A 3 week attachment to a general practice, which, in most cases, will be outside the city of Edinburgh. Two individual tutorials with the practice tutor. In addition there will be three group tutorials in the department of general practice. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The intended learning objective is to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to effectively and holistically diagnose clinical problems in the general practice setting.
Assessment Information
There are 2 components to the assessment, with the following weightings.
- Practice Tutor assessment (50%), comprising a standardised assessment of consulting skills (30%) and clinical knowledge, communication skills, attitudes and professional behaviour (20%). - Portfolio case (50%) Contact and Further InformationThe Course Secretary should be the first point of contact for all enquiries.
