Clinical Neuroscience: Degenerative Disease and Brain Tumours (U01067)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : MED-4-NSclin2 In this course we aim to cover several disorders of the brain from a pool of Parkinson's disease, CreutzfeldJacob Disease, multiple sclerosis, brain tumours, dementias and cognitive decline in ageing. For each of the topics, information will be given on clinical features of the disease, biochemical events of the disease, neuropathology coupled with neuroimaging. The course will consist of a series of lectures which will highlight the evolving techniques used to make clinical assessments of the patients and tailor medical/surgical treatment. This course will provide a fully integrated approach to understanding neurological disorders using basic science and clinically based information. Entry Requirements? This course is not available to visting students. ? Pre-requisites : Permission of the Curriculum Approval Officer. Students should normally have registered for two first semester courses in the Neuroscience Programme ? Special Arrangements for Entry : Directors of Studies must contact the Programme Secretary or Programme Organiser for Honours Neuroscience before registering a student for this course.
