Locational Modelling (P00753)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : GEO-P-GISLM This course examines aspects of the theory of location for services and related problems of interest to people making decisions in the public or private sectors. The perspectives of communities likely to be affected by such decisions are discussed. The course explores location/allocation (also called 'central facility location') models, the 'electoral districting' and 'travelling salesrep' problems, together with a discussion of spatial interaction models. This course is also concerned with underlying concepts and models from location theory, together with the social and political contexts within which models and solutions are formulated and applied.
