Acronym : GEO-P-RMFPM The course examines the increasing demands being made on all forests and the growing pressures on forest areas. Forests exist in ecological, economic and socio-political dimensions, all of which subject the forest to different but concurrent stresses. Not only does the forest manager have to cope with the commercial demands on the forest but also with the demands imposed by local and national - as well as international - communities. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- An understanding of the present state of the forest, the formulation of policy and the background to forest management at national and local level.
- The consideration of the ways in which forests can be sustainably exploited, the setting of management objectives and the use of economic models for decision making and evaluation, as well as the control and monitoring of the growing stock and the estate. Assessment Information
