Interactive Sound Environments (P00189)

This course allows students to explore further sound-based interaction in the context of digital media. Students will undertake project work producing cross-media works that enhance the use of sound. We cover the use of sound in art installations and other new media forms as well as sound in commercial envrionments. Students will investigate procesees and contexts for the use of sound in real-time interactive environments such as virtual reality, audio-visual performance and immersive simulation environments.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Skills in programming interactive sound environments. Understanding of technologies used in complex multimedia installation environments. Ability to translate adventurous design ideas into a plausible presentation.

2. Interactive environment beta prototype (60%)
