Information and Communications Technology 4 (ED1120)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : EDU-4-ICT This option will focus on ways in which ICT may contribute to the enhancement of teaching and learning in Primary schools. Practical work with ICT will be combined with consideration of relevant findings from educational research, with emphasis on ways in which constructivist learning can be supported by exploratory and expressive uses of technology. Software encountered will include internet, multimedia, concept mapping, conferencing, presentation , and model building applications. Policy issues relating to ICT will be discussed in the light of critical literatu. Specialist prior technical expertise will not be expected on the part of the students as the learning of necessary computer systems will be integrated into the course experience. By the end of the course students should be able to critically evaluate ICT developments and plan novel forms of pedagogy that can exploit appropriate technology to enrich the classroom environment.
